Beginner Leathercraft Tool Kit. Edge Work Kit. Customer Spotlight: Remnant Made Remnant Made started out as a way to repurpose fabric and leather remnants, worn out jackets and other textiles.
Customer Spotlight: Jennifer Park Jennifer Parker, a custom leather fantasy and cosplay creator, found her unique place in the industry early on. Pros: These things are pretty well grouped, and respawn insanely fast. I was pulling literally mobs at a time and I never got close to running out of mobs slaughter. Cons: They all mostly spam fireball and if you are a melee class this can make it hard to pull large amounts into tight groups. Also, even though many of the pits and hills in the area seem to take you out of their LoS, they can shoot straight through mountainside you can too though Also the terrain can make it hard to get to kills and skin them in a couple spots, flying eases this burden a little.
Greys don't worth the trip to vendor, throw them away. Other than look hawt on a female blood elf check it out , I don't see why this price for a 30s worth grey. Went over to Un'goro to try my luck there. Been farming the Gorillas at 60,16 and having much better luck. Getting 1 Thick Leather almost every time but you do get some Rugged in between. Comment by Badlands New Kargath killing the dragons with a hunter 85 aspect of the cheetah on: Thick Leather 57 Rugged Leather 25 minutes.
Comment by Un Goro is great place for this Comment by Time for an up to date comment. Comment by tadelle Ruins of Kargath is an awesome point to farm. Too many low level mobs , very fast spawn timers. Comment by Dravska A great place to farm this is Badlands, atop Fuselight. The Billy Goats there respawn fast, and they're really close together: all you really have to do is circle around while killing them, and for those who can't one shot them, it's rather easy to pull them in small packs and AE them down.
As a plus you don't have to walk too far away from the Fuselight's FP, and you have vendors and a mailbox nearby. All of those really make up for the small chance you have at catching Heavy Leathers. As I see it top notch spot, go there every time I need to farm Thick Leathers.
Comment by CoHSpammer Recently I've been levelling Leatherworking, and I found that a nice place to farm Thick Leather was the silithid hive The Gaping Chasm in Tanaris, there's a circular room underground in the hive that has a lot of mobs very close together, and the spawn rate is quite nice too. In about 30 minutes I managed to get: Thick Leather 36 Rugged Leather 11 Thick Hide This was as an 85 hunter, with the Bountiful Bags guild perk, and I only ran through the hive once, by the time I got back to the circular room all of them had respawned : Happy hunting!
I have tried Ungoro, I got heaps of Rugged little bit of Thick, tried the Unearthed Fossil skeleton things in Tenaris as suggested by Wowhead itself, but they are very scarce and limited in numbers and re spawns.
The Gaping Chasm is by far the best drop and re spawn rate around. On my lvl 69 druid, its almost a one shot for the bugs and easy leather collection! Try it out guys you wont be disappointed! Comment by The Gaping Chasm in Tanaris is amazing! Has to be one of the best places to farm Thick Leather.
After reading this I tried all of Dustwallow Marsh first and had mixed results I received a ton of Heavy Leather, but Thick Leather was only maybe 1 in 5 mobs , but then I tried Gaping Chasm and had racked up in no time. The bugs drop nearly every single time and they are everywhere, if you go inside the largest cavern in the middle there is even a room with over 25 mobs squeezed together, as 85 you can round them all up and take em out with one shot, makes farming easy. There are about 25 bugs in one room No running around unless you want to kill the bugs in the adjacent rooms.
Comment by Suammi The best place to farm this is off The broodlings in the Badlands, plus there is a chance for a Dark Whelpling drop! Nyxondra's Broodling Happy farming! These mobs dropped a little too much rugged leather for my liking, but still, they are on a fast respawn timer, so that helped. If you are at level, there is an elite dragon flying near this area, so keep your eyes peeled. Also discovered that the mobs just outside the Emerald Sanctuary in Felwood are pretty good for farming thick leather.
They're fairly well-grouped, and spawn reasonably fast. Comment by Taba With the advent of AoE looting in patch 5.
Start in Bael'gar's hall, then make a circuit of both circular tunnels. Be sure to grab the packs walking through the large cavern. Finish by running inside the supply area don't forget to check the side rooms for dogs and stop on High Interrogator Gerstahn.
The entire pack will follow you the whole time and you can AoE them down in just a few seconds. On my poorly geared DK, a single run takes almost exactly 10 minutes to pull, kill, and skin. Better geared characters might be able to do it faster, although if you go any faster than that you will run into the hourly instance limit. My average take per run after 2 hours of farming 10 runs is as follows: 50 Thick Leather 20 Rugged Leather Thick Hide gold in vendor trash 50 Runecloth greens These results are with the Bountiful Bags guild perk.
I can't find a place that has a higher output than that, including Nyxondra's Broodlings. Reputation: Using instance tabards, I am picking up some reputation along the way.
Runecloth and other sellables: Leveling first aid, or more leather via selling on the AH Other choices may be more efficient, but I found BRD to be incredibly useful Take the long road to Bael'Gar and then run around and through the detention block, or just stick to the detention block. I prefer the second. Pull the whole loop by High Interrogator Gerstahn killing any dwarves that aggro, then the whole loop by Lord Roccor.
Finally pull all of the hounds you've collected to the room with Houndmaster Grebmar. Aggro the hounds in there, aoe and spend a few minutes skinning a ton of leather. Zone out, reset, repeat. No waiting for respawns. Comment by Eleora With so many conflicting opinions here, I decided to do a short farm in each area most suggested.
I farmed near New Kargath for exactly 10 minutes as a level 90 elemental shaman. I killed all dragon type mobs including the elite, and picked all herbs I passed. I had: 9 rugged leather 37 thick leather 2 thick hide 7 mageweave cloth 1 golden sansam 1 firebloom 4 sungrass Plus trash loot, the value of which was 1g 28s 9c.
Next I cleared Sunkern Temple, including two mobs outside the entrance and all of the troll mobs. This took me more than 10 minutes. I had: 29 rugged leather 19 thick leather 15 green dragonscales 4 worn dragonscales 6 thick hides 10 runecloth And trash loot I'm including any BOP items in this as they're worthless to my shaman totalling to 23g 22s I farmed Terror Run in Un'Goro for exactly 10 minutes, killing all manner of dinosaur beasties and got: 24 rugged leather 20 thick leather 1 green boe and 1g 67s 11c in trash If you're after thick leather, I'd suggest stick to Kargath.
If you're borderline and need rugged too, head for Un'Goro. ST takes too much time for the loot you get. They spawn either in groups of 3 or walk around alone. They can be skinned for Thick Leather and Rugged Leather according to my experience Wasn't aware of the Kargath place, but if I had known that earlier I probably would've farmed there though, based on the comments here on wowhead.
The detention block and Houndmaster Grebnar a bit further in is what you want to go for. The Houndmaster has several packs of them in the same room and is a skinner's dream. When you're done, get out and reset, repeat. Comment by Badlands is indeed a great spot. I was lvl 47 at the time so I cleared part of the room, the other side would be repawning.
Comment by Aenonar Blackrock Depths is by far the best spot. My sling: Map Link Grabs around 55 bloodhounds in an optimized no-backtrack sling. Then just run to the exit where there is a convenient vendor to sell the trash. Comment by killertofu I needed to farm thick leather in a hurry so I went to a spot around 41,35 in Felwood spot right under the "W" in Whisperwind Grove on the map. I skinned lots of Thick Leather and some Rugged Leather. Respawn rate was maybe a few minutes.
I just went back and forth between the two spots. Great place to farm the thick leather. Good Luck! Comment by Svenoshire It is still relevant on patch 5. Comment by Caztaneda Well, as of now im on my th toon with LW. And all I can say is that I allways been farming the yetis winterspring cave about 65,53 around that. They drop both Thick and Rugged leather. Good respawn etc. Great place for Leatherworkers at that skill level.
Comment by janeska A great place to farm this is in Tanaris. The Gaping Chasm: 41,61, inside the hive. When you get to the center of the hive there is, a whole room of Hazzali swarmers, workers and sandreavers. The re spawn rate isn't too bad. They drop: thick hide, rugged leather and heavy leather as well.
Happy farming :. Comment by Aivilo90 If you don't want questers in the way and not looting their kills, bypass the headache and go to Winterspring. Frostsaber Rock and surrounding area is a dead area with a ton of cats to skin. Thick and Rugged leather is found there. I started at Mudsprocket and traveled down south to the electric sign pointing to Thousand Needles and Mudsprocket.
I then traveled along the valley of the mountains, killing everything, searing hatchlings, searing whelps, Drywallow Daggermouths, Firemane Scalebanes, Firemane Flamecallers, Firemane Scout, and Fireman Ash Tail, and even encountered the Elite Scorchscale Drake.
Follow in a northeastern direction along the valley until you come an opening where you can see Tidefury Cove.
